Thanks Wayjay. One thing I am not clear on is how many airbags the KK's have. All the specs I have read state they have 6 airbags ( 2 front,2 front curtain and 2 rear curtain ) but some people selling them have listed only 4 airbags. The website "howsafeisyourcar.com.au has them listed with 6 airbags.I checked out a couple of 2008 3.7 ltr limited models today and noticed the front curtain srs location but the rear has the same little plastic cover over where the airbag would be but does not have an srs label on it like the front does.I need the rear airbags for my daughters safety which has been a draw card for me to look at the KK's.I am a bit confused Cheers

I always thought the front / rear side curtains were one big curtain... maybe that's why sometimes it get's listed as 4 or 6 as that confuses the listings.

Here's a video of a crash test of a KK where you can see the side curtains deploy.

If you see a Jet version don't overlook it. I have a Jet and they were the top of the pile. When Fiat took over Jeep they gave notice to the KK's. (Bought their own 'silly' little suv into the lineup). Story goes that to use up inventory Jeep/Fiat put a lot of goodies into the Jet as a clean out special.
Price for the Jet was about $52000 when I started looking. I grabbed one of the last ones for $35000. So watch for folks trying to recover their initial high price.

CJD has a lot of experience and is very knowlegable about all Chrysler/Jeep products. Worked here and overseas as a Jeep mechanic. And to boot he is a lot cheaper than the dealers.

I'm not sure what he did on my last service. But fuel consumption is much improved. Yesterday I drove from Gold Coast up north to Maleny out to Kenilworth and back. Some freeway. Some big hills and lots of windy road. I filled up when I left. KK is telling me it got 9.9l per 100k. Giving a fuel range of about 640k. Not bad!!!

good luck

Hey mate, i got the limited, heated seats, electric adjustments, seat memory, onboard 30gb hdd, rearview dimmer, folding side mirrors. These are some of the modcons i think that separate the KK from the competition in the range. Check to see if yours has them. Also, the CRD is where the mileage is, if you can pick up a 2011 onward model (the motor upgraded from older ones) that has a recorded service history that included a belt change its got to be one of the best value 4wds out there

Thanks for the info again guys.Yes the airbag looks like a one piece unit so that's great.I popped into CJD in Helensvale on myway home yesterday and had a really good chat, very knowledgeable chap.I looked at a couple of 08 limited models yesterday and I must say I was very impressed with the feel of the car on the road, they handle really well and are very quiet and smooth, very impressed and excited about getting one now.Can anyone tell me if any worthwhile mechanical or electrical improvements got done after 08.I don't mind trim changes but if there were any reliability upgrades that got done that could steer me clear of the early models.I am looking at a 2011 3.7ltr sport on the weekend for a very affordable price with only 76,000 kms on the clock.I would prefer the limited but would not pass on a good later model sport for the right price. The power seats is one thing I really miss but I could probably upgrade to power leather seats as I have been told the wiring harness should be there already.
