I have the 3.6 auto and it definitely needs a trans cooler if you want to hold the posted speed limit on the motorway in even mildly warm weather.

I towed my camper up to Fraser Island and my trans temp barely moved even in the soft sand. 3.6 auto but do have 4.56 ratios and was only on 33's.

Following this to see what others have happen!

I tow a small caravan with mine although I haven't towed it in hot weather yet. My trans temp only moves a couple of degrees. I'm on 33s with 4.10 ratios. Being a new Rubicon it's an auto. The van weighs around 1900 kg

I previously towed this van with an auto CRD JKU. Although the diesel engine tows it a bit easier, especially up hills, my transmission temp used to climb quite dramatically in hilly country. With the trans cooler right up front on the 3.6 I'm hoping that high trans temps won't be as much of an issue. Of course, if you're driving a manual you won't need to worry about trans temps, but the clutch will be another matter.

We have a camper also, although unlike those above its a manual rubi. The 3.6 does fine towing it. Temp hasnt been an issue yet, and it will tow at 110 in top, although i do drop ot back a gear or two for hills (moreso now with bigger tyres fitted)

I thought the 3.6 had a much improved cooler compared to older models?
