Air System is the only way to go, if you put a bar on, it compensates. Then you put steps on, it compensates. Then you load the car up for that weekend away, guess what... it compensates. Then you get to camping destination & unload vehicle.... you guessed it, it compensates agin... while all the time giving you a ride the Queen wouldn't complain about. There is NO COIL SYSTEM than can match what the air system does, it is either too soft what fully laden or tooooo hard when unladen. My last 4x4 was a GU Ti Series 6 Patrol. I had it for 10years, in that time I changed the suspension system & shocks over 8 times trying to get a compromise between load & no load, I was just about to put AIR bags under it but SWMBO said we needed a new 4X4. Best move I made.
One more thing... Range Rover has air, Nissan y62 has Hydraulic Body Motion Control suspension (front and rear) (HBMC). Mitsubishi is going to have something similar on new Pajero. L/Cruiser are going air on the new 300 series.
Ask yourself why are they all doing this? Jeep like Range Rover saw the light long ago & offered it.... to be at the front of the pack!
