I have always used NGK plugs in the past with no problems, my small block Chev, my 253 and 308 Holdens, my 318 Chrysler, my EL Xr6 all have run NGK's with great success, my Xj runs on Champion plugs gapped correctly and it plays up no end from time to time and pings like crazy on standard unleaded so I would love to get read of these crappy American plugs and get some good quality NGK's if I could find them.....

Back when I used to own 4cyl Fords (escorts etc) I tried Bosch (no good) Motorcraft (good) and NGK (excellent)....

i will just update my earlier comments from 2007 and say that in the years since both NGK and Champion have become a recommended norm. NGK has become a factory recommendation on later Jeeps for reasons unknown (mfg costs, specs or whatever). i have to admit in the last few years i have not had the usual problems with NGK that i experienced in my posts 10 years ago. they seem to work just as well as Champion so appears be the new norm and are an exception to the rule. looks like mfg technology is finally catching up but i would still avoid Bosch stuff on a Jeep. stick to the recommendation on the bonnet sticker and all should be good!

Ive been using NGK plugs (not exclusively) on all makes and model engines (bikes/auto engines/chainsaws/marine)since the late 70's....never an issue....had a period where i was using Motorcraft (had free access to them)on my modded Holden red 6 and small block chev's.....tried may styles and heat ranges, could never get them to 'colour' correctly.

is anyone using the ZFR5N plug? whats your results?

cheers

I don't know about you guys but NUMBER 1 PLUG is a bastard to get to on my 96 I had to remove the heater hose off the thermostat cover and carefully pull back the power steering hoses on the 99 it was nearly as bad and I did replace with Champion plugs
