Something to keep in mind is that at least with the DBOR towbar its the same for all JK models and variants....... regardless of the vehicle spec.

So it obviously certified for the worst case ( highest load ) which means its a sure thing for lesser rated year models,

This doesn't change the legal tow rating of the vehicle of course but it shows that its not the towbar itself that is the limiting factor.

I know nothing of the DBOR towbar, but it seems a foolish mistake on their part not to offer model specific capacities matching those of a factory Mopar towbar, does it not?

Because if a 4 door diesel auto JK owner fits the DBOR they are now limited to 1000kg towing? Or did I read that wrong, and it's certified for 2300kg but owners must still comply with their vehicles limits?

The last is right. The DBOR bar will take the highest possible, but when fitted to a lower rated vehicle that is all it can legally tow, because that is all the vehicle can legally tow.

The rating is vehicle dependent not towbar dependent.

Think this spells it out pretty clearly.

The DBOR towbar looks and fits exactly like the MOPAR one...except its got a better quality finish on it....probably made in the same place, if the truth were known, lol.

I suspect they all come out of the same factory.......

And may be all alike strength wise.... the difference with the DBOR one... ( and the MOPAR one hopefully ) is that its been tested and has a compliance sticker so you don't have insurance issues due to the hitch.

Mopar ones for Australian and New Zealand JKs are actually made by BestBars in New Zealand. BestBars do the Mopar plug and play trailer wiring kit as well. I have bought from them directly, and it was all Mopar part numbers.
