HUGE +1 to this answer, mine did exactly the same thing. Clattering noise.. Look at the tensioner when the noise happens, if its jumping around replace it.
Get one from ebay UK sellers..

Strange,my CRD JK does not have an adjustable belt tensioner, its a spring loaded unit..

Guessing he means that the retaining bolt (single bolt) was loose , might have been close to coming off the positioning/locating pin.
Good thing to have checked , could have gotten a lot worse if it popped off the pin and moved completely.

All sorted by the sounds of it hopefully.

I hope to god you didnt order from there because thats a crown unit.. It WILL snap the bolt in the block when it fails shortly.
There is massive threads about crown tensioners failing and causing damage.

I tested three, the best they lasted was 6000km before snapping the bolt in the block.

You can pick up genuine units for in aus cheaper then that too

I have a crown unit you can have for $40 same as pictured brand new, but install it at your own will
