It is a pretty simple job to do, if you can source the part go for it, just make sure you keep everything clean and remember how the pump comes apart.

There is a small metal o-ring in each cylinder , they only go one way up. Just something to watch.

Good evening, well what a palava that exercise was.
I got the repair kit from ebay, pulled out the pump, also removed the vacuum pump to provide better access as i have fat fingers.

Thanks to Ben-n-Jo for the metal o-ring orientation, this is a big deal, make sure the tapper is facing out, not in.

I pulled the pump apart, replaced all parts in the kit.
1st image for all parts replaced.
2nd image of repair kit contents, i did not use the 6 gray plastic washers in the middle
3rd image is the so called worn shaft fcukers wanted $700+ to replace to conduct their HP test.
The rest are just of each head pre cleaning etc.
I sanded down all head surfaces with wet/dry and the surfaces on the hp pump that they mate before re-assembly.

Torque up the bolts to the head to 22Nm, fuel rail to pump also 22Nm.
However i was seeing a small air gap between each head and the pump body, deciding to air on the side of caution, i took the assembled pump into a diesel repair shop to perform a high pressure test.
They informed the next day that the shaft was worn and requires replacement before they can conduct a high pressure test, costs $700+, fcuk off i said, you're having a laugh.

I'll come and pick it up, they said its in bits. They then rolled out the "we can't reassembly it as we are liable if anything goes wrong with it (it being high pressure and all)".
So i picked it up, cost me $100 for the pleasure(wankers), i re-assembled the unit, installed and tested, no leak thus far, will need a longer drive to be sure but this should get me road worthy (warrant of fitness).

The tutorials here have been great, easy to follow and can save a shite load of money doing it oneself providing peace of mind, as i don't trust any of the repair shops in my area, they're all rip shite and bust....
