Default Carrying a Tinny

Does anyone carry a tinny on top of their Jeep? I'd be keen to hear about your set up.

To help you come up with a solution then a decision, spend a few minutes removing a roof rail (very easy) and check out the nut inserts into the roof that will eventually secure any load you put up there - if you use the Jeep roof fixings.

The Uneek rack is rated by them to 125 kg. BUT, does it increase the roof loading of the vehicle - which is only 68 kg?

Cheers

The roof rack load is limited by the rails and their position on the roof. If you fit the uneek roofrack it replaces the rails and spreads load onto the pinch weld, which is how it manages 125kg dynamic load. But I'm not sure that will be enough to cope with wind resistance from a tinny.

HI,

We carry a Portabote. Folds down to a surfboard and weighs only 35kg. You can't carry a tinny on the Jeep roof - rated only to 68kg no matter what rack you have!

CHeers,
Sally
