By comparison to old school muscle car small block cams a 224* duration @.050" is pretty tame but I guess that was to keep emissions authorities happy.

I reckon given the vast improvements the port design of the 4.7L over earlier iterations of cast iron V8 head's and the roller rocker cam design the 4.7L would really take to some more duration like a 'duck to water'.
If meeting benchmark emissions is a less of a concern for you and more right foot mumbo was desirable then a 235 or 240 degree duration cam would really wake it up.

Yes i agree,
With my tri y's and 2 1/2 into 3" single exhaust running some performance cams and hi flow intake with a good tune i reckon one could say u could unleash the beast ( for a 4x4 ) speaking, still wont be no "ss" but even the few hp one could gain is still a gain IMO.

Hi Classic,

Yeah I agree. Something is always gonna be bigger and better but I am happy with mine. Being a 4.7 everything is as rare as the proverbial. Theoretically you are correct but where does one get them from?

What other mods do you have on the engine mate? Was it a fresh rebuild or older motor etc. Cheers
Hey Grippy,

Standard HO Long block, HO Cam Shaft, SCAT Rods, Ross Racing Supercharged Piston Black skirt Ceramic Coat 9.5:1 compression. Crane cams and spring, Solid Lash Adjusters, Cometic Head Gasket, 2008-11 air manifold, 72mm F&B TB, 3" pipes, Deeper Oil Pan, ARP Bolts, F350 front brakes + + .....

Best to chuck in a Hemi 5.7, LS or 4/6BT. , though the 6.2 Hellcat is delectable..
