Default Front recovery bolt patern

Hi guys,

I have a question that one of you might be able to answer...

I'm laser cutting 2 front recovery hooks that I'm going to bolt on the pre-drilled holes in the chassis. Where the original tie-down hook is. I don't really trust this hook for snatch recovery, I've used it but it just doesn't inspire confidence.

I am after the bolt pattern of this mentioned tie-down hook. Has anyone measured it? I know it's 4 bolts in a rectangular pattern, I just don't know the dimensions (horizontal and vertical) and the hole size.

I have a bit of plate 4330 Modified, quenched and tempered, with hardness of 360BHn, (That's really hard, with extremely good mechanical properties). It's an exotic material better than grade 250 which is what they use for this hooks.

I appreciate any help, thank you beforehand.

You will have to make a template as the holes aren't the same distance apart top and bottom. I have some factory tow hooks and they only fit pointing upwards, the bolt holes dont line up if you flip them over. Same goes for the factory tie down point, only fits one way, pointing down

that's a good piece of information. I had no idea... I was trying to avoid disassembling the whole front bumper... but I guess it's not likely to happen...

Unless your material is extremely thin I wouldn't be wasting my time on the material properties. If you look at the wide range of bars with bolt on or welded in recovery points they are all manufactured out of flame cut 12mm ( or thereabouts ) plate.

At the end of the day they are only bolted to relatively light plates at the front of the chassis which in itself has crumple zones pressed in.
