This was going to be my course of action if my old key would no longer start the car, the alarm still goes off when you open it manually, but my dead key fob still de immobilises the car and starts it, so the car is no worse than what it was when I drove there.
They cannot program the new key without changing those parts apparently, I just couldn't believe the mental prices.
With this type of fault you have to have it done at the dealership, they really have you by the balls because no one else wants to touch it.
