turns out the dude was not insured at all

I had recently dropped my comprehensive to third party damage only

went back yesterday, and with the help of a mechanic mate, I undid the u-bolts, and pulled the rear axle back, replaced the smashed wheel, and drove it home

the young fella hit me at between 40-60km, without braking at all, no skid marks, and I did not hear any brakes...but I did see him coming in rear vision, and tried to shoot forward

As I pointed out the father, if I had not done this, pretty good chance it would have been a fatal...no airbags in their car, had his GF, and 2 dogs

Father has paid $2500 into my account, and promised the same amount again, lets hope he follows thru

My XJ was running sweet as, after many, many hours work by me, so I am bummed

spoke to my mate, he thinks he may have a good '96 to sell me

ur not wrong, hopefully he doesnt "cool off" and decide he has paid sufficient.

we struck a deal, he will pay the rest "in a few days"

This is the 2nd Jeep written off by a teen, another teen backed into me, and yet another caused a one of my cars to be written off.

In each case I tried to treat them like I would want my own kid treated

I know how the parent feels, my son was driving his GFs car, fell asleep at the wheel, and wrote off 2 cars...after negotiating with insurance co, I settled.

I insisted my son pay back a portion, it will take him 6years, I want him to think about consequences of poor driving every time he notices the deduction

Default Insurance

Bummer mate.

I only bother with third party on mine, I own it and if i,m stupid enough to be at fault I'll wear it and if not hope they are covered. Either way the car gets towed to my place so all the good parts can come out, even if I have to pay the insurance company out on the little it will be worth in there books. That way I should most be out of pocket for time not the real value of the car.

new plugs, wires, dizzy cap roter button, and fuel filter.
realized there was some slop in the dizzy shaft, so replaced that with a spare i had.
Running a lot smoother now with, no intermittent stumble.

Adjusted my rebuilt rear drums after having it all together for a fortnight haha. (Having four brakes is not over rated!) installed a new adjustable pan hard rod from road safe and got it realigned. Installed ‘the cure’ from ruff stuff industries, thus concluding the steering rebuild on the old girl. Couldn’t be happier the the results!!
