Default starter probs ??

last week my starter died just like it does every 3 to 6 months so changed it over with my spare and the bugger still popped the fuse so tested starter no1 and it came up good so made up some test leads to suit the solenoid connector
tested solenoid and it started up but nothing from the pdcto solenoid so figured it must be a dead short in the solenoid wire ( all the time swmbo is saying that its because i jumped the indicator flasher the week before and its stuffed the wiring)(try explaining that the washing machine isnt connected to the fridge even though theyre the same colour)so traced the wiring from starter back to pdc and found it a little worse for wear where it runs behind the block so pulled the old stuff out and made up new lead from 5mm cable and spliced it in and ran over the top of the motor and whirr whirr brrm brmm all good also changed the relays in the pdc cos the terminals had turned a nice shade of blue
reckon i was lucky that the bugger didnt catch fire and that the fuses did what they where supposed to do

Good that you found the issue!
I have the starter solenoid with the lid that I can just lift off. it makes it easy to crank when out of the car. I just push the flap down & away it goes.
