Default 2.7WG -Zero Power to Wheels. No Error Codes

Hey everyone,been a while. On Saturday my wife starts the GC and backs it down the driveway (down with gravity) and then goes to take off. No power making it to wheels. So she tries to drive it back up the driveway and the car won't make it. She tries reverse, same outcome. After doing a bit of reading online I disconnected the battery overnight then reconnected with no difference. I have only gotten back to it today to try and work out what the story is. I did some online research early this morning (including here) and so far nothing matches exactly what I've got. Here's the details as best as I can outline them in point form;

-2003 Grand Cherokee 2.7CRD Limited 160,000km
-Car driven a few days before problem with no issues and no noises present.
-Car starts no problem
-Battery checked under load and is good.
-Battery disconnected overnight then reconnected with no difference.
-Different battery installed and no difference.
-No error codes coming up after 3 turns of key.
-Have tried 1st, reverse and drive but same symptom in each gear.
-Tried low range with no difference.
-Car pulls under idle but revs freely when accelerator is pushed.
-Will not make it up driveway as engine power not transferred to wheels.
-I do not own a reader to connect to car.

So the TC must be touching the flywheel (I'm a manual guy so excuse me if the terminology is wrong there) and slowly pushes the car when at idle but as soon as load is applied either through the accelerator or via gravity the TC slips with zero power getting through.

According to my research the ECM can cause all sorts of issues but usually associated with error codes, as mentioned I've got none. My first thought was electrical (TCM) but now I'm not sure due to no error codes so possibly something has gone in the trans or torque converter but again there are no noises or clunks or anything.

Hopefully that's clear. If anyone has any experience on this I'd greatly appreciate it.

Thanks, Brad

Check TCM power. If TCM does not have +12 volts, then symptoms are pretty same. +12v is going to TCM through fuse F12 from fuse block inside the car - shifter unit - TCM.

Thanks Sass and I’ll check that. Wouldn’t that throw an error code though?

If TCM is switched OFF, then it can not report about problems to ECM.
ECM does not checking what modules are switched ON or OFF. CAN bus will be active between ECM and ABS and if TCM CAN bus resistance is correct, then no CAN bus faults will appear.
If your shifter lights are working, then fuse is fine and you should check voltage on TCM pins C1-29 (+12v) and C1-30 (Ground).

Check the fluid level too, low fluid will create this sort of problem too.

Also do the 3 key shuffle to see if there are any codes, details are here: http://wjjeeps.com/faultcodes.htm

i'd also invest in one of these too:

https://elm-327.eu

it will work with the WJ Jeeps software that will allow you to talk to the TCU.

Sass you may be onto something. The lights on the shifter are not on so I will check the fuse in the morning. Hopefully it's that simple!

Bodgie, As mentioned above I've done the key shuffle and no error codes are showing. I have also previously looked at purchasing one of those readers but I've got an iPhone so it will not work, only suitable for android.

Hopefully it will be fixed with a simple fuse replacement tomorrow.
