Default Green Diesel Tune Issue

I have been running the GD Eco tune in my 2007 CRD since 2011 without any problems. I have regularly towed a 3t caravan all over Australia and it has delivered exceptional power and fuel economy. In fact my tune was one of the first eco tune that Stu from Murchison's supplied.
My problem is not with the tune itself but with the Alientech Scan Gauge tool which has stopped functioning, the screen lights up but with no display. On contacting Stu we thought it was a faulty screen (which has been a problem in the past), he suggested that I email GD in the States. After a lot of forward and back emails, GD agreed to find an old matching unit and send it out for a cost of US$90 (GD have since updated their scan tool to a later model which is not compatible with the old one). After swapping over the screens the scanner still doesn't work which indicates another possible internal problem. I now have 2 scanners, the original one with tuning data on it, namely the eco tune and the original CRD tune and a replacement blank one. When you buy the GD tune the first thing you do is connect the unit to the OBD2 point to download your original tune.
The problem that I now have is that I can't check or clear any error codes or return the tune back to original should the vehicle need to go to the dealer for any work. If it does go to the dealer they will re-flash the ECU back to original and I will then lose the GD Eco tune.
I asked GD in the States whether it was possible to download the tune data to a computer so that it can be loaded back onto the replacement unit. On Stu's advice the GD Eco tune is matched to the vehicle Vin No. To date they have not given me an answer to whether it is possible to swap the data over.
I am quite happy to keep on running the GD Eco tune but I have no access to the original tune now with in my view the only option being to spend more money to have Jeep re-flash the ECU and to then buy a new Eco Tune from GD for more money still.
I have posted this with a view to alerting others with the GD tune should their Alientech scanner die.
Cheers to all
Dave

You should have the original tune file either on your computer or in your email, as it is sent to them as an email attachment. They should have been able to add your files to the new scan tool before they sent it out, but it's a bit late for that now!

You could also connect your old failed tool to your computer and use their software to download the tuned and the original file from the tool, and then use the software to upload the files to your new tool. Unless the old ones are hugely different, that is how mine worked.

I was emailed the tuned file and used the software to upload it to the scan tool... I don't see why you wouldn't be able to do that with your old files.

I've been through all this with GD in the States but they don't seem very interested to help. My tune was purchased from Murchison Products here in Brisbane and I think it was probably one of the first tunes that they sold. They posted me the Aliientech scan gauge with the GD tune on it up to Darwin and I had to connect to the car and download my original tune and then upload the GD tune so they wouldn't have my original tune on file.
Also GD no longer support that model of scanner, having upgraded to a later version which they say is not compatible with their new software.
I was hoping that I may be able to download the tune from the old unit (if the eprom is still ok) to my computer and then upload it to the replacement scanner that I purchased from them, but the computer won't connect to the old unit and I can't seem to find a matching driver. I have suggested this to them but they didn't wish to respond with any solution.
So I guess I'm stuck with no way to get the original tune without parting with more money for Jeep to reflash the ECU, which if done I then lose the GD tune.

Murchison's were able to locate the old interface GD software but after trying to communicate with both my old unit and the replacement one from GD with no luck, I think I have done my money and will continue to run the GD Eco tune. I just won't have access to the original tune without going to Jeep. I have just bought the EDS (engine data scan) from the 4WD Super Centre ($74) so that I can check and clear engine codes.
