Good to know. I'm expecting a few battle injuries

FWIW - the (UK) parts dealer couldn't find those part numbers. The pipes had different p/n's too (4.7 & 4.0) so it would seem the 2.7 CRD is a different kettle of fish.

Well, I've got the belt off and hit the first major snag.

The Torx bolt in the idler pully (no. 12 in the diagram) is jammed in tight & rounded off somewhat.

Tried penetrating oil & diesel. Dubious about trying heat given the proximity of hoses etc. Last ditch will be to cut a slot into the plastic pulley & bust it off with a hammer & chisel.

Does anyone have the Jeep (or Mercedes) part number of the pully (and the bolt if it's not included)

Cheers Bezzat

I ended up having to get my mate to weld a bolt to the nut so we could wind it off.

There was plenty of room to get the pump out but who's stupid idea was it to run the pipe & cables under the wotsit in front of the pump? Makes getting the pump back in a right unneccessary fiddle. Typical Mercedes.

Does the inlet to the pump need a gasket? The pump didn't come with one.

I can't remember, I'd look at the old pump to see how it's configured.

Of course you need a gasket!

Not the pump to engine gasket, the small inlet (or it might be outlet) that connects to the pump at 10 o'clock looking at the engine.

After a bit of cleaning I found a thin (plastic?) gasket still stuck to the old pump. I've cleaned & reused that as it was undamaged.
