not really sure how spacer lifts would be illegal, OEM used spacers to lift their vehicles (subaru for example - foresters have spacers in them).

I think you may be mixing up spacer for lifting with wheel spacers (which are illegal).

I'm happy to be proven wrong however.

I currently have Bilstein 5100's with King Spring lift. I like it alot, very comfortable, eliminated body roll and awesome clearance.

I did some more research on the spacer lift kits, I couldn't find anything to suggest they were illegal. But I found lots of info to suggest they're not very good. Not all specifically WK2s but many examples of crumpled shocks and other issues. I would imagine if you just want the look they might be fine, but for heavy use I think it's better to get it done properly.

Ryann04, how much lift did you get? Do you mind me asking what you paid?

I'm liking the Murchison kit but keen to understand any other good options, especially if kinder on the wallet!

That looks awesome Craney!

Were you not tempted to switch to 18's?

Also, do you notice any reduction in take-off power with the larger tyres?

Hey all, can definitely recommend the Murchison Lift. They are custom made for this vehicle and is their own design. I made the mistake of trying Dobinson lifted springs first, after hours getting the front shocks and springs out and apart, put them in and they made no difference to height at all!! Same for the back ones!

I then purchased the Murchison springs and lift kit. Sits 2.3 inches higher (60mm) and levels the jeep front and back. Rides really well. I would suggest better than factory, a fraction stiffer but barely noticeable. Love the clearance. The team at Murchison are really helpful as well and willing to assist with any questions.

I recommend anyone doing it themselves, when you take the front shocks out, take them to a suspension house with the new springs in hand, get them to swap out the springs with a proper strut compressor. Far easier and cheap. The compression on the front springs is huge. I broke two spring compressors (rachet style ones) and would not recommend them for this purpose.

I have fitted these to mine, used the Diesel 0-300kg set up with the shocks pre assembled, makes life easier... To date they have performed very well, great ride, once bedded in they have given me about 40mm ft and 50mm rr above original heights which I think when new was 490 front and 505 rear......... Very good when towing and a vast improvement on original rubbish.....
