Yep thats what I was thinking John, been raining here so browsed my manual and was thinking along those lines of hot fuel, dirt in tank making for trouble, 9 years can make for a lot of crud.
The returned fuel from engine is hot and even with a cooler to flow thru it does rely on the fuel in the tank to cool it down, when the fuel level is low it will actually heat up the remaining fuel thus causing problems for the fuel system, pumps and sensors have a hissy fit..... in the old style engines it would cause problems more so these modern ones.
While it seems like 2 tanks they call it a saddle tank one side having the main fuel pump and the other side what seems to be a pick up unit which allows the pump to bring fuel over.
.
If it all runs well once it has a full tank then I would say fuel level is the problem not the sensors and would look more at the fuel pump, it is located in the fuel tank and does have a filter but I'm pretty sure they are not servicable but don't hold me to that as often Jeep will say not servicable and that just means they won't but others do.

I have looked in the Bible and one fuel rail has the pressure regulator (68248541AA)on it and the other has a pressure sensor (68247772AA) combined the cost from the USA would probably be about a $1,000 with freight and GST.

PS: Just saw your link to a thread. interesting with the codes I'll have to find more about them..... and sounds very plausable fault with a pump failure.

Here's another link, not sure if its the one I recall or not, but it covers similar territory.

Good luck with getting it sorted

Just looking at the Rockauto site at their view of what I believe is the Mopar transfer pump
https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo...sn=393&jsn=393
and as mentioned there is the pump on one side of the saddle and a pickup on the other.
Both parts show a float switch attached and obviously they must communicate somehow.
If it was the case that the pickup side had a filter and it was clogged, and therefore slow to transfer, maybe the gauge would show fuel on the pickup side, but actually the transfer pump empties its chamber and runs out.
That would also account for the fact that the thing will restart shortly after when it transfers enough to get going again.
These things bleed themselves by cranking, not like the oldies that had to have the HP pump bled of air.
Anyway - that's all I can offer......
John

I looked at the workshop manual and cannot see anything about a pump even though they call it a transfer pump or something, appears to be a pick up with a float, no description at all in regards to operation so can only think the float opens the valve allowing the main tank pump to draw fuel over to its side, the float may signal a valve on the main pump to open and draw fuel over but who knows...... I don't like in-tank fuel pumps one little bit and wish I had researched a bit better with the WK2, assumed it was like the WG CRD.
Hope it all comes good for you.

I found the code, was looking at a printout sheet before which didn't list it for some reason but found the website link in the bookmarks on my laptop which has the codes as well as any related Service Bulletins, a very handy site.

Thanks for that list
To my understanding in regards to the P0088 error code if the listed cause of the issue has been checked and found working the PCM requires flashing and upgrading the software.

I took it that the bulletins related to the P0088 code where for the 2014 model...

You could have look thru this comprehensive listings of TSB's, they can either help or just add to the confusion, oyu need to drill down to see if one actually relates to your vehicle...... ours are Export Models.... http://www.wk2jeeps.com/wk2_tsb.htm
