It should I believe be an M14 x 1.5mm thread on the diesel engines. Parts stores or ebay should have them easily available.

Like Ol mate said a six sided impact socket is the first thing to try, even if you have to file the plug head down one size, the less damage the better.
Or else it will be welding a nut on, as someone has suggested.

Me I'd just use a pipe wrench and replace it with one of these jiggers but a new sump plug from supercheap, repco or autobarn , like wheel nuts and most other things not a special build part......... and its a 13mm socket or ringy you need to remove it normally......

That would be my advice as well.
If it's rounded that much, you can alway get a smaller socket and tap it on with a hammer. That normally does the trick.

I think the issue is that it’s rounded off due to being rattle gunned on so tightly. I’ve had it the past myself, thanks to an idiot mechanic, and had to weld a nut on so I could free it with a small breaker bar.

Make sure you send the asshat mechanic that wrecked it the bill for the new plug, washer and any tools you used, plus labour.

Bought a set of nut/bolt extractor sockets and had another go - totally f**#ed it! It must be REALLY tight! Taking it to a garage mechanic for help!
