I shortened the fronts with a small router using the mudflap for the other side as a guide.

The rears are OK for the most, but I did crack one partially in a muddy rut... but it would have happened pretty much irrespective of the length.

They're cheap enough to replace, and if you mount them shitty enough they will not damage the car.

Cheers, Steve

Do they come standard with mud flaps or have mine been added as an extra?
How many people run with no mud flaps?
How does it go on gravel roads without mud flaps?

(I have a 2014 CRD WK2)

I’m running a 2014 GC also. Removed my mudflaps early on as did get caught when off road. Never had an issue with gravel or mud outside of what would normally be on your car from an off-road trip. Might be an issue with a van or a camper trailer though but not sure

this is the actual quote from qld transport

"Mudflaps are not normally required on passenger car type vehicles. However, mudflaps
must be in place on vehicles where they form part of the wheelguard system such as on
some motorcycles, including motor tricycle(s), and vehicles with a tray type body.

i would argue that a WK2 GC is in fact an all wheel drive passenger car with off road capabilities

as such in QLD does not require mudflaps.

They don't come into the country with them or get retro fitted, they are fitted as an extra which you pay for, like floor mats etc.
