Default keyless entry not working after fob battery change?

When I first tried my key fob in the GrandWillys after sitting idle for 10 years, I got an invalid key message. Replaced the fob battery and it then sometimes worked but mostly still got the message. So pulled apart the Wireless Ignition Node, as you can't buy replacements yet, and used CRC electrical contact and lubrication spray on all moving parts. Now no more invalid key messages.
Today though I tried the central locking for the first time and it works via the armrest switch, but not via the fob. Is there a reset I have to do after changing the fob battery? Can't be the usual battery contacts, otherwise the ignition wouldn't be able to be turned on I would have thought?
2008 WH Grand Cherokee donor BTW.

Could it be the antenna receiver for the key fob? May be where its positioned as I do believe there is a lot more real metal in a Willys

I don't even remember coming across that! Weird.

Thanks mate and will look into it.

If it is part of the overhead console or headlining wiring, that is not fully installed yet, so might be the cause.

From what I can find out from the workshop manual, this antenna is only if you have the remote start feature, otherwise it is contained within the WIN. But looking in other places, there is a non remote start one as well! Confusing and time to check what's left in the wiring boxes as little in them now. Did you find one like that when you torn down yours?

Most of mine is still in one piece, only pulled the transmission, some C/V's and a few interior parts out.

Really need to pull my finger out and dismantle it or sell it off
wife say's I can't buy anything else until it's gone

Ha ha, well there motivation for you.

I just got advice from Richard from Jeeps-are-us and he thinks it is possible that 10 years of no battery has wiped the memory of the locking function and to try re-programming first. I checked and certainly don't have that antenna, so would never have had. Everything was labeled and kept together.
Hoping the scanner you recommended will be able to do it. Have not tried it yet as will wait until everything is connected. Don't even have the steering wheel on yet as will wait until the windscreen goes in first.
