Default Low Pressure Fuel Line Leak

Hey Guys,

I was beginning to process of doing a seal change on the high pressure pump as I had identified a leak, however once I took a few things off and gave the area a clean it looks like the leak is coming from one of the fuel lines.

I have taken a photo and circled where it is leaking (picture was taken before giving the area a clean down).

A couple of questions
- Is it more likely it is simply one of the washers/o-rings that is toast?

- I have these orings from Merc 6019970645 based on the 2.7 Everything page which are the green orings, however the ones on their are white and look more like this:

- I have taken the bracket off which is holding the lines on, whats the best method for removing the lines themselves, just pry them off gently?

Thanks again!

To get them off, wiggle and pull. If you pry you risk breaking something.

It's the o-ring for sure. The washer isn't a seal. It's a spacer.

Holy moly, Amazon is expensive....
Just drop by your local MB dealership if you have one in your area and order some there

Pulling and wiggling is it, once you have the retaining plate off. Nothing else holds them except friction. I did mine some years ago, but I seem to remember carefully prying with a small screwdriver at the white washer.

Got them off! Had to carefully use a flathead screw driver but they came off with some careful wiggling and light prying. O-rings replaced, now just need to bleed the fuel line.

Thanks for the help guys

There may actually be a leak form the high pressure side of the pump too, and it's a common problem and a reasonably easy fix.

When you start it just keep an eye on fuel squirting out under pressure from one of the 3 caps on the pump.

Default Here is my issue!

The issue is I have fuel leaking around the fuel filter.
This all started after I had No 1 fuel injector replaced. Normally you would be straight back to your mechanic but for me there are logistics involved (distance and lack of vehicle) so I investigated.

Numerous hose clamps around rubber fuels lines were leaking. I would assume my diesel service people would have disconnected much of this. After several tightening episodes I thought I had solved the problem but there was still fuel dripping off the bell housing.

Now, I can see a hose running off a connection at or near the fuel rail at No5 cylinder (hard to see behind EGR) this hose passes back over the fuel filter and connects to a pipe running down behind the fire wall. What is this connection? Could this be the leak.

I need to add some more information. When I wanted to change my fuel filter (from poly 4x4) I decided to go to a one man diesel shop which was more handy than my diesel service centre. Fun and games – we discovered that the o rings were missing from the box the new filter came in – rang Poly on the spot and they dispatched a replacement straight away. Left the car with the mechanic, I was not in a hurry, but he decided to replace the filter with a different set up (claimed unnecessary) that bypassed one of the connections ( a T peace?).

It looks like the line running off/near the fuel rail is what was by passed.

Can any one give me more guidance on this?
Thanks
