Thats pretty well right @jeepsgofaster, thankfully the WK2's tranny fluid doesn't go via the engine cooling system, thats why it stays down low even when towing, while they say these new fluids can take the higher temps I'm not convinced I still go by the old rule the Tranny temp should never go above 106degC, I prefer to keep under 100 deg, change the fluid regularly, never get it cooked and you never have it in the shop.
Mind temps under 80 deg don't do them any good either.
The Rangers trannies have a thermo valve which doesn't open until 100deg and the fluid is always up above 100deg, thats why many get the valve pulled, just adding n extra cooler won't do it as the valve won't open till 100 deg, dumb idea.....
