I did hook onto the reverse light but it worked without it. I just couldn't be bothered pulling it apart again if it stopped working. I'm guessing it gets a signal from the bus system.

OK,
The Teyes headunit, I thought it would/should be a lot more customisable, some things that I would like to change but can't seem to be able to do it, is anyone able to shed some light on this for me

1) I would like to change the homepage layout
2) The time/clock is very small, How can i make that bigger/more visible
3) Radio layout and style, can this look be changed
4) Can i name the radio chanels rather than just have a no. there

It doesn't look like you can change the home screen unfortunately. There is another layout you can do. Scroll down from the top of the screen and hit the theme button then select the black and white square. It has a bigger clock but that's about it.
The radio channels can be changed with the station logo overseas but not in Australia. I think you can download images of the Web and then upload them onto the unit but from what I've read it's very time consuming.

I reckon you can change the layout, I was watching a video where the bloke mentioned you can load other launchers the same as any Android device which will change all sorts of stuff.
I believe I read on XDA somewhere that it can be rooted allowing access and changes to all sorts of things too, hopefully the crippled bluetooth
