Default What I did last week.

I just went the other way....

From this:

To this!

I really didn't care about Brand Name road tyres, and this was partly because with Co-Vid my National Parks Volunteer Work has shut down for the last 3 years. So I am rarely outside the city.

DELMAX 'Utility Pro' in 245/60/18 @$680 for 5x tyres fitted was a good deal. But I've discovered that the noise I have was not the muddies....

I have a bad right hand front wheel bearing. 2x MOOG hubs left the US yesterday for $100 less than 1x (Chinese?) Hub from Repco @$455. And don't get me started on the 2.5hrs per side the mechanical shop quoted me for a 1.1Hr book time job, and there are YouTube videos online showing the whole process of swapping out a wheel hub in just 15 mins!

Default Inverter install

But this is what I really did THIS week. I decided the little 600Watt Modified Sine wave inverter wasn't going to cut it and Kings had their new model 1500Watt Pure Sine Wave inverter on sale from $249 to $199 online. And I can pickup from their new shop in Fyshwick now too, so no freight either.

A Neptune Water Resistant (IP65) Dual outlet GPO, and I can now charge my Makita batteries for the chainsaw while driving, or with my 280Watt Solar Blanket when camped, from the 170Ah AGM slim Aux battery i had already installed in the under floor cargo area, to power the fridge and an external 50Amp Anderson for the Compressor, etc.
(I know, I still need to install a hold down strap of some sort, but it's 36kg, it doesn't move! And the plywood 'floor' I made, plus the cut out in the plastic cargo floor holds it all-directions horizontally anyways.)

So when you run out of smelly 2-Stroke fuel for your chainsaw, you can borrow my Makita lithium 36v battery chainsaw, which I can now charge batteries over and over again whilst in the middle of nowhere / bush, as long as I have sunshine or Diesel (100L Aux Tank.... I carry a LOT of diesel when out bush). If I haven't mentioned it, I love my Makita battery chainsaw. Which you can't hear in a National Park cutting firewood, because it is SILENT,.... but that would be illegal. Even if that log was blocking the track.

Lost my gmail, screw google anyways, can't get new password sorted due to that so new account. Not that I'm a big contributor, mostly a lurker

Added a hand bag to the KK. Tows great. Fitted a new brake controller, easy install too.

Overall hand bag was a Super easy mod lol.

Just a quick trailer setup at home to check it all out before taking it out for first camp.

Made a roof top solar heated shower too. Post that one when I get pics. First test after 4.5 hours in the direct sun... a 40 deg. shower... maybe worked too good!

Made this solar powered (heating) shower for the KK. Made out of 100mm PVC pipe. Gives a full 4 minutes shower per fill if leaving it on and not turning off to soap up. On/Off switch at finger tips.

Runs off a tiny 12v battery and water pump.

Lots of people pressurise these through a mag tyre valve and run it off internal pressure. Stupid, stupid, stupid. PVC SHATTERS when it explodes, especially after extended UV exposure. Can use pressure PVC pipe but that is super expensive. 99.99% people use stormwater pipes for these and pressurise that. Suicide.

This is safe for kids and family to use, no issues with shit exploding at camp.

Of course you can add hot water to it then top it up however 3.5 hours in direct full sun gives a mighty fine warm as shower. I got 40 deg in about 4.5 hours on first test. Insane, too hot really.

Bolts to the roof rack via T bolts. Don't intend to drive with it full as I will top it off with camper trailer water tank. Would not bother me to drive with it full, no splashing around when full. Holds about 16L water total. Super happy with results.

That's a location I have been considering but ???. One main concern is the lack of air flow for cooling as inverters especially can get very warm under load so be careful with that, apart from a fire risk you can damage the hardware from over heating. I have been on remote stand alone solar on my home for over 20 years and all home solar installations need to be done with good air flow for all hardware and also a fireproof backing plate to mount the inverter.

Note: cannot get dropbox to link individual pics so each pic is under each paragraph below, so dumping em all with AJOR upload. You'll work it out

Scored on sale a GME UHF 4x4 setup pack. Cool, except no where to mount the antenna due to no mounting bracket available anywhere useful except rear tail light and need drilling etc.

As I have no need or want for a bullbar, therefore no obvious mounting place for said antenna, I was at a loss due to the stupid curving/overlapping rounded bonnet closure the KK uses to where to have a good solid mount.

So I removed the fake side vent, 10mm socket on a bolt I'm using to mount bracket:

and found with bonnet closed I can literally finger into the engine bay:

So with a 3 dollar something bracket from bunnings, I persuaded with impact force a 3mm flat bar into a shape with some very special tools:

And does not even touch the body work because, finder sized hole with fake ass vent removed:

Finished pics, completely level and strong:

In doing this, I think I have found a nice ingress place for a snorkel. Plenty of room for someone to fit one I think with not much metal removal. I'd shift my 3 dollar mount to the other side and snorkel in there as air box is this side.
