Default Turbo coolant hoses

I met a guy recently who has a 2014 JGC and has done 370,000km without much trouble. However he did have to replace the turbo coolant hoses which is hardly surprising, but this guy did it himself. He told me the hardest part was removing the fuel rail and a wiring harness.
So I thought I'd have a look on Utube to see if anyone has a video of doing the job, and found a good one, about 29 minutes, very detailed. BUT what a job! So much stuff to remove, windscreen wipers and cover, expansion tank, throttle body, glow plugs, injectors, fuel lines, wiring harness, turbo hoses etc etc etc
Anyone here done it?

Like most jobs the actual fix is easy but getting to it and putting it back together is one big pain, in all these sort of jobs the assumption is your handy with the spanner, things like fuel lines need TLC, everything should be tagged, lines and openings should all be blocked its easy to missplace a bit or allow a tiny bit of dirt in a fuel line and you have made more trouble for yourself, clean and tidy on diesels when you are tinkering around the fuel system.... Ive noticed in these videos they fail to cover things, not a good move.

I'd have done that job myself if I had the space to do it comfortably...and the time. If you have the space and the time and know what you are doing I can't see an issue.
Many blokes do that job themselves.

But as Drover wrote: "...the assumption is you are handy with a spanner".
Cleanliness is paramount of course when dealing with fuel systems.

I had all 3 problem hoses replaced on mine by 7 Slot at Ormeau...the one under the manifold, the one by the oil cooler, and the one at the back of the turbo.
I had some other jobs done at the same time, but I think the quote for that work was for around $1150, which included new coolant, all parts and labour.

The workshop I think used a piece of neoparene hose in the valley rather than replace it with the same again. They charged me $21.79 for that, then the other 2 hoses were genuine so paid top dollar.
They charged me 7 hours labour all up.

The only tricky job at the end is ensuring the cooling system is bled properly.

7 slot is on my books if mine goes dodgy, do I have the space to do it, YES, do I have the tools, YES, am I capable, YES, have I the inclination, NO ........... would I let any old place work on it NO, so if it gives me a warning sign I have friends down the coast near there who will get a visit while I dump the Jeep at 7 slot, I am getting so lazy mine, if it just drops its guts then tow truck home and I get the tools out... which reminds me to get a hose kit for it from All Grand Cherokee to stick in the kit and the VN dunny door hose for the oil cooler, keep forgetting........

So, I'm thinking it's not a job to do purely as a preventative measure, wait and see if any symptoms arise?
Just can't help wondering if and when...??

Pretty much wait and see IMO. There is absolutely nothing straight forward and easy to fix on these motors.

Not just these motors, good mate swears his Ranger is going to do him in when he does a service on it and my 2wd Hi Lux ute must have one of the most bastard oil filters to get at and a few other things aren't all that great either, its a 2004 so has had the bonnet up a few times.
But I trust it pretty well the same as my Jeep, both give reliable vibes..
