transfer case switch 2,7crd .po0702 etc
i have been following this thread from england and have been having this problem with my jeep for 2 years ,constantly not knowing if the transmission would work or not,i have studied various posts and noticed in this thread a wiring diagram which shows the transfer case connected to ground via ecu via wire colour light blue and black, the wire goes through a splice to ecu pin 21,i checked this wire on my jeep for resistance and connection to ground,on the ecu case and the battery ,the wire had a resistance of 3.2 ohms thereabouts,i checked another piece of random wire and found,it measured less than .5 ohms indeed that was probably the internal resistance of meter itself.i had been monitoring the transfer case switch voltage in wj pro app and had noticed it was consisistently above 1.55v even 1.65 plus volts...hence limp mode ,no gear change,i was going to change the transfer case switch, but a thought crept into mind, maybe the 3 ohms or so resistance in the blue black wire might be enough to throw the voltage out to the ecu,so i spliced in a temporary wire to the blue black wire and grounded it to the battery,to avoid any grounding problems in the existing blue black wire or ecu pins etc.
presto the transmission is now working properly,,and further the the voltage is now showing 1.45v in wjpro app for the transfer case switch,,,i was going to replace the transfer case switch..but this is unnessary i believe...this is caused by poor grounding of transfer case switch..after the years of pain all seems well with the gearbox,,,again ...anyway thats my simple solution to this persistent bug bear of jeep transfer case switch headaches.ile see how it goes but ime confident ..
