Thanks all

I have just come back from another run around town and there is still a tiny tiny pink drop dried on the bottom of the Thermostat housing, nothing like the pool that was originally found. I will run through the procedure again as advised by OLMATE and replace the thermostat, all of the ones I have seen are rated at 98c does anyone know where I can get the 88c or is there much difference, sorry for all the questions and everyone's help is really appreciated. Just want to get this right as we are off to Broome next and need a reliable car for this.

The correct thermostat for the 2013 is rated at 88c.
Dayco p/n DT248D. You can buy at Repco, or most parts places.

I wouldn't be surprised if the higher temp thermostats were used due to different settings (emissions ??) in the PCM. My Jan 15 build has a 98 deg symbol on the original thermostat housing so would be interesting to see when they changed the temp specs.

Guys

I spoke to the guy a All Grand Cherokees Springvale and he advised that he did not have the part, but to buy one rated at 98c as this is what he highly recommends for my 2013 Trailhawk. He was very insistent that you wanted to run the motor hotter rather than cooler. I could not find a 88c one anywhere and bought one of ebay for $145 with o ring.

All Good Farwest
Personally I would have preferred the 88 over the 98, just cannot find one.

Gone for another run around Darwin 30 ambient, temps were good highest was 92 when stuck at the lights but went down to 85, she is still a little bit all over the place but it was stop start traffic, so not the best for a test run and never got hot, need to get onto the freeway and see if it stays at a consistent temp, The leak is still there and I am now sure it is coming from the bottom bolt on a plate at the bottom of the thermostat housing, I nipped them up and there was a quite a bit of give but the engine is still hot so will wait until it is cold, does anyone now what this plate does behind these two bolts -

My Jan 15 build diesel has one of these fitted where your blanking plate is:
https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/31400749...iABEgLdC_D_BwE

Check to the right of the plate/right side of the rubber hose as my 2015 has a metal coolant pipe that runs from the engine valley to the front of the engine that accepts the other end of the plastic pipe. Looks like someone may have fitted a blanking plate ??

Cheers
