If the WH hadn't been so plain and basically ugly I would likely still have my Hemi Overland...

Then they wrecked the WK2 firstly by deleting the front ELSD option available on the WH, and moving to independent suspension at the rear. Other than that they are ok, but not super capable as they don't articulate well at all.
Just a bloody shame no one has ever stepped in to build a locker option for them...then we would have had a proper capable 4wd.

FCA plainly were losing interest in proper 4wd's and heading down the path to road friendly type SUV's that were better on the road but so so when off road.
Looking I guess to capitalise on the burgeoning soccer Mum SUV market, to load with kids and sports stuff...becoming more of the "Toorak Tractor"...which fits Stellantis' modus operandi for sure...

The WL has lost me totally, don't like it at all, being a welded on Jeep man I now have no idea what I would go to if this Jeep ever dies. Imo they are only a 4wd because the engine can drive all 4 wheels, they in reality probably should just lose the transfer case and be an "All Wheel Drive" and be done with it.

I mostly agree with this, but there's the argument that Jeep are keeping the 'real' 4x4 alive with the Wrangler. The WL Trailhawk is also extremely bloody capable - there's some great vids starting to come out now that deliveries have begun in the US.

This one has Dave from Offroad Animal behind the wheel, outperforming a new modified Bronco up a rocky climb.

Shame we don't have them here yet......

Jeep started heading to a Latte FWD world after the ZG I reckon with the Wranglers while being very capable they are just too damn small really..............
To do the stuff I once travelled over back in the 70/80's it was all live axle stuff, independants wouldn't hack it and I mean basic not after spending a few grand to make something that it should have been in the beginning..... When you get hung up in a G60 if it was a WK2 or similar the rock/stump would be inside with you...lol,lol,lol...

I knew of a classic J10 in a shed a few years back, I wonder if its still there, if I had a bag of money a J10 or CJ10 ute would be a nice project ............. nice new seats and a rebuilt power plant....................

The top brass has totally lost touch with the au market imo.
I have been grumbling ever since they removed the hemi as an option from the overland in about 2016. We nearly bought a s limited with hemi but thought no, if their dropping the diesel from 2022 on they'll have to reintroduce the hemi for tow duties, it's still an American option...........boy was I wrong............WL with 2.8t tow capacity is worthless to me.....even stupider is that there is little to no fuel difference in real world running of the the ol penstar to the hemi .........I have no interest in a hybrid catastrophe where a replacement battery cost nearly what I could have purchased an entire s limited for a few years back.

Moronic times. Never ever thought I'd consider owning a nissan but the days getting closer to where it could become a reality.
