My phones are Samsung, the last one that I remember those dongles working on was the Note 4. Bluetooth is supposed to be backward compatible but it doesn't seem to be the case so it might be the newer hardware or the OS.
Been thinking about dragging the old Note 4 out but with my house move I may have thrown them out, so will have to buy another dongle.

It looks like its just the OBD plug module (dongle) and you still need an App to read the data .............. from what I have come across Alfa OBD and the unit that @Jeepers6 uses will actually read the Chrysler/Fiat codes, others that state they do usually just seem to read the basic codes and are not brand specific and can be expensive to boot....

Alfa is cheaper on Google Play than whats said on the website..

I was researching OBD2 scanners and was thinking about the BlueDriver unit, till I read a review that stated that it doesn't like the Australian VIN numbers and it will be missing a lot of info when connected to one. Rang the US number and they confirmed it.

So back to the drawing board as they say, found another potential unit called the Autel MaxiLink ML629 OBD2, seemed reasonable for it's price point so will give the Australian number a ring just to confirm it will work on my Jeep. Available on E-Bay for about $150 discounted for another week.

Anybody have first hand experience using one here?
