Sorry to hear that....would still contact an Off Road specialist and get a quote to have the buggered mounts rebiult...ie: re-engineered.....if your interested in keeping it.
Should get a min 10k for the engine alone.....2.5k for the tranny....then there's your after market exhaust for a few more bickies.....or....buy a vehicles that has 'blown mechanicals' and transfer yours over.....all comes down to just how 'hurt' you are by the decption you got at purchase.
Shyte situation.
Good luck.
Keep us updated or let us know what avenue you went down.

Cheers mate, got some thinking to do. Can't see myself doing a whole bunch of wrenching on it, that stopped being fun for me when I was a younger man.
Can't really make any plans until I find out where I stand with insurance and finance. I know I could probably turn a profit if I part it out, but I don't have much driveway or any space to put it and I sure don't want to end up with half a car in my backyard. Will keep you posted.

The input you got from the Coffs fella would be spot on....maybe even offer him the vehicle....not saying Ive done any business with him but at least he knows what the bits n pieces are worth and 'may' offer you a fair price....
Not sure how many wrecks you'll find that will suit a swap out of the bits, and understand where your coming from with the 'parting it out' or peforming the work yourself....shyte situation.
On a selfish note...thanks for the heads up created by your thread...my next one will be an Overland and I now know something to have a GOOD look at pre-purchase. To have Richard identify and respond so quickly its quite obviously a 'common weak point'....he has a wealth of experience.

Yeah, seems like a pretty major flaw with the airbags. I always felt it was a bit clunky when bottoming out on offroad 1, but I've got a special case here. But if having it raised is all it takes to rip the mounts out it's not a good selling point for the setup.
No idea what the previous owner was like, it's a Sydney car and has zero signs of ever being taken off road, so can't imagine why they would have been driving around in offroad 2. One of life's mysteries I guess!

He suggested Jeeepart in QLD, but mentioned the freight might be a barrier. Also suggested I put it up on a forum for $5k. Will see if I can get anything out of insurance. Still drives pretty well, maybe if I leave it out on the street someone will steal it for me! Need another massive hailstorm...

Having had 2 vehicles with damage to the Unibody or whatever you like to call it, Insurance classed them both as wear and tear, did also get advice one was stuffed, in both cases I went to a reputable smash repairer, all fixed and never a problem again, in fact they were both more structurally sound than originally and when the grain truck side swiped me of course they were the first port of call for the repair, at least the Insurance covered that one for me................

You really need it to be looked at by someone who is a specialist at bent car bodies, Jeep means nothing, so a Smash repairer should be who need to see to get a proper hands on opinion, the body isn't bent/twisted so if they can cut and shut suspension towers this would be a doddle, anyway a hands on inspection is way better than a photo diagnosis........

Use a Smash Repair Shop not a Mechanical Workshop, you need someone who knows broken vehicle bodies, Jeeps are not the only vehicle with unibodies, Merc, BMWs so they aren't a mystery to body shops.

It was a spanner shop that declared my first one a wreck and irrepairable, the smash repair shop said easy peasy ... should have gone back later and showed them...

Anyway best of luck with it all, if you sell it as a wreck and its not a declared write off, someone will just rebuild it and make a monza of cash.

Agree with Drover, a Reputable Smash Repairer would sort that out, even though it's a Monocoque body, no different than having a vehicle of the same construction that's been involved in an accident and having one of its front suspension rails/towers removed and replaced.
It's not like yours is having the whole floor replaced, its only a bush mount /sub section/ locator.
I would be keeping the Insurance company out of the equation at this point untill you see how you go repairing it
