just created a chart with some axle strength comparisons.

really going to be a work in progress as you can see, but it is interesting to see some of the different axles there.

Amazing to see how strong the Patrol rear axles are :eek:
But where's the AMC20? (two peice & single)
Also tube thickness would be nice [img]tongue.gif[/img]

yeah where is the amc 20 :(

Wooders in Zachs list both the 2 piece and 1 piece would show up the same but if he added a breaking strain field then ????

What about Hilux axles, where are they.
You'll need that info so you know what's in yours when you get one ;)

If you want to work out the relative stregth (for twisting strain) you can take the diameter to the power of 4...

These specs are ok for rear axels, but the fronts have to take into account the uni joints, hubs, etc.

Also, there is a difference in strength from the low pinion to high pinion (reverse cut)... same axel diameters, but the high pinions are weaker (ring gear mostly).
