Default KJ recovery points

have been doing some reading and shopping around on recovery points for my KJ. There appears to be some existing "points" both front and rear, are they suitable for use with a snatch strap or other tow rope? Is the tow bar hitch suitable also? or do I need to get something after market fitted both front and rear?
cheers

Yes, I'd like to know too. I have used the points on the ARB previously but only for nice gentle snatches, and used a tree protector through points on both sides then atached snatch to centre of tree protector so that force was distributed evenly. Not sure about a full on tug.

For rear you are best to use towbar with snatch around the pin, this should be rated high enough. (I think)

I have been wanting to ask this question myself and if the boards in the states ever get my rego right I would have posted a similiar Q on JU or similiar.

I have a few ideas I am going to explore (as I don't have a towbar or whinch bar yet) and if it looks like they'll work will share them with you all. Too hard to explain in words, will be better with photos.

popped into my local 4wd shop. The guy suggested that I shouldn't use the existing recovery point on the front. He said that he has seen many of them end up though on back window of the recovery vehicle. He then went on to say that they couldnt help with an after market hook as there would be nothing to attach it to and i would have to get something made by an engineering firm..... not fun and sounds like $$$.

Re the tow bar with the pin in, he said not probs, but the pins can bend and then can be very hard to get out.

i rang the jeep dealer to ask about the rating of the front point. the guy in the service area said it is there as a recovery point, but went on to say "what is a snatch strap"??????? Not sure how much help his comments are.

If you really want a recovery point for the front, then you would be best looking through the LOST forum. Most of the serious drivers in the US have recovery points, including hidden hitches which are available at most online shops in the US.
