I have had a Kaymar roof bag for a few years. Been through dust, sand and rain with no problem. Recommend it.

My SC Bag (made by the same guys that make the Tents) , is a little more then the others , but so far so good. Happily recommend them.

Bought mine from ARB in Canberra.
Thanks Graeme. I've just checked out the SC site and they look good.

Taxman - thankyou, thankyou, thankyou. I'be been checking out the Kaymar bags too and they are seem OK too.

Did you both season your bags first to make them waterproof? And do you still put the things inside inside other bags for protection or are they good enough to keep your contents dry regardless? Are they seam sealed like vinyl ones or can the stitching be a problem?

Thanks,
HB

HB We've got a RAK-BAG which is made from "Tarpol"(a fibreglass reinforced UV stable PVC material). Its fully seam welded. Its water proof and does'nt sweat. We put our bedding, clothes and camping gear in it. Its been in the rain and heat with no problems. Its a bit pricey at $345.00 that was in Dec 2002. Where in Melbourne heres a phone no 1800 808 301 if you are interested.

Didn't season mine . . . just used it . . . No problems.

Its not like a canvas tent (which you DO need to season , I can ASSURE you of that ), the SC bags have a lining in them. NEVER had ANY water in it.

I do use bags up there (suitcases or sports bags) , but I have put things like sleeping bags , pillows , blankets , even Xmas presents , and No water problem.

(I WOULD bag em up though for safety sake , even those cheapo red, white and blue bags).

Well thanks for all your input peoples. I think the SC bag seems to be the way to go. I think it's the same as the Kaymar bag too as they use the same photos in their brochures.

It looks like the trip to Flinders will be a dry one.

Cheers,
HB
