Default KEYLESS ENTRY AND POWER WINDOWS.

G'day

Im only new to the Jeep scene after recently purchasing a 1998 Grand Cherokee. The car is great.

I am hoping someone can help with my problem. The keyless entry will not lock the drivers door and the controls for all windows and mirrors will not operate. I have spoken to a dealer who told me that disconnecting the battery will reset everything. After doing this everything works fine (doors lock, windows work etc), until I drive it again. This problem is annoying.

Anyone have any ideas

Thanks

M8 has your RKE got a red button on it? If it does, you need to go to the deler and ask them to fit the New Zeland RKE unti to the left frount door. As for the right frount controll pannle not working, get them to check the right frount door lock mechanism, and replace if worne. Be warned that the above repair will cost you well over $1000. Another fix is to pull the biggest amperage fuse, of the fuse box under the bonnit, out for about ten second's. this get's you the same result as disconecting the battery.

Hope that this helped you

Thanks for your reply. Another dealer told me that there is a patch kit to install in the leads, I think like a suppressor. I have disconnected the battery again and all is working fine for now.

Again, thanks for your help

McZaf - when I got my Grand - I had similar probs and like jam jar said, pull out the 20amp (?) fuse in the engine bay and this will reset, but it will not fix the prob. In the end I replaced some computer part / capacitor and it was fixed. HOWEVER, just last week had to have the multi door switch replaced, $880 + gst and fitting - *&#^@&*&#$%^&* - just to get the driver's window working
