Driveline problems/fixes for 2000 WJ
Gents,
My old mate has just purchased a 2000WJ Cherokee Laredo, with 44k on clock for 36grand.
We swapped one day, his brief was to see if my grand was a hard changer through gears(clunking/slamming when changing) at slower revs, my brief was to listen for a rattling whine from 90 ks to 110 in his.
While he thought mine was ok, it does really slam when changing at lower revs, his sounded like it had a stuffed diff. On taking it back to dealer, he was told that this was a common problem and that an upgrade was available to stop this(different shaft and c/v etc) for a princely $1600!!
Is this right- should not this fault be fixed by jeep aust, the dealer would not cop it, also the ignition switch jammed in on position, nearly buggering starter before it could be switched off- they begrudgingly fixed this, but what is the go with shafts/joints etc- what is next? Bill.
