Default Removing centre console from '01 Classic - help required

I'm pulling out the centre console from my '01 auto to mount the rancho in cab controller in the ashtray. I've unscrewed it all, removed the surrounding panels from the transfer case selector & gear shift so it's all ready to slide out... in theory

Can anyone advise the easiest way to actually get it over the handbrake? The handbrake doesn't have enough upward travel to allow the console to slide back, up & off. Should I loosen the handbrake cable & how do I do it?

Cheers,

Thad

That's the way to do it. It still requires some manouvering.

Yep, backed off the cable underneath & it slid out easy

'Remodelled' the ashtray surround a little & the controller sits there nicely. Shame that Rancho don't make the face plate flat though, the lower part is set in a few MM so there is a slight raised edge on the top half. There's not many other places that it'll fit though...

For sure. I've taken a couple along the way & once finished I'll pull it all apart again, rebuild & take step by step shots.

Cheers,

Thad
