Wild Turkey seems to have all the answers. The TSB info he forwarded me via the link....(http://www.wjjeeps.com/brakes.htm#TSB) has a lot of info which leads me to think I have the Tevas brakes in my vehicle and that this is the cause of my problem. The TSB refers to WJ only.

Where is the info on WG?

Visually the calipers look like the description in the bulletin. I am still trying to determine if they actually are tevas. Anyone who can tell me how?

The jeep dealer in Adelaide and the Jeep reps in Melbourne seem to be trying to make it difficult for me to find out this info. Claiming the brake parts are all jeep parts.

As for build dates per the TSB, 1999-2002 Grand Cherokee WJ's built through May 10 2002 came equipped with Teves calipers. The Teves calipers caused the rotors to warp, a problem that has plagued Grand Cherokees........so the TSB goes.

From May 11, 2002 new calipers by Akebono were installed. These were installed on international models built on or after August 16, 2002. They also were causing problems but at a much lesser rate per the TSB.

Jeep issued the TSB #05-003-02 to address the warped rotor problem.

Really appreciating your help and responses here. Heres to finding out whether they are tevas or not and the cause of my brake problem.

Thanks again.
WG, what kinda crap is that?

Anyway, I can help with the ID of the calipers. It's really simple if you are unfamiliar. The Tevas calipers have a bent piece of spring wire used as an anti-rattle clip across the inboard side towards the center of the rotor hat.

The casting is sharply sloped and angular whereas the Akebono body is smoother and for lack of better terms, nicer more finished looking.

I have both in the back yard and will get up some pics later this evening for you. The Akebono caliper does not have the spring.

Also, the pads for the Tevas have a T-hook on the end of each one and the others have a small square nub that rides in the slot.
