got sick of the crappy tweeters in my dash, so replaced them with a set from a site on the web. The site is www.12positive.com ,took 6 days to get here, cheaper than factory by half and the sound is brilliant, recommend them highly
Thanks for the info. I have noticed my tweeters have just started to vibrate & crackle with a little volume into them. I'll have to check out that site, & see what's available.

good stuff bob. yeah my drivers side tweeter is cactus. apparently it's common. my local strathfild car radio have some awsome specials atm. some good pioneer & mtx gear at genuine less than half price.
some great info on www.wjjeeps.com on wiring and upgrades for grands if you guys aren't aware.
Just went through the same process with my tweeters.I opted for alpine tweeters and the sound quality is great.I simply removed the internals and magnets from the old speakers and mounted the Alpines inside the old speaker frames so everything fitted in the exsisting mounts. The Alpines are a lot smaller than the factory units and fit nicely into the old speaker frames and they come with the crossovers so they only allow the high frequencies through and you end up with a crisp sound and none of the damaging bass through them.

the problem with the original speakers is they dont have a resistor attached to them ,so the bass signal flows thru the tweeters blowing the @#&% out of them. When you do this install make sure you connect a resistor or the same problem will occur.
Plus they are only a paper speaker and placed in the worst position in direct sunlight on top of the dash. Most quality tweeters come with the resistor/crossovers.I've replaced all of the speakers in the vehicle with alpines and they matched up great with the stock system,no drilling or modifying needed and the sound quality is so clear.
