My TJ doesn't struggle at all with 31's. Can hit 5th at 90kmh, and it is rare I need to change back to 4th on hills. Holds 100km/h with no worries at about 1800 revs.

Mind you, it has extractors, bigger exhaust, finer filter and snorkel......

and forgot to mention its transmission? 5th? so its manual...and does TJ have different gear ratios to XJ?

Pre-purchase I drove a TD on stockies and the difference is much better.

Unsure on XJs, but something that has not been mentioned is with TJs there is slight tyre rubbing at full lock. Easily remedied with some washers on the bumpstops. Will slightly reduce turning circle though

same deal for XJs. After a lift having the track bar (panhard rod) adjusted makes one hell of a difference to turning circle as I found out recently after driving for about a year without it being done.
