That is exactly right, you get what you pay for, there are Chinese replicas everywhere. They get a good product copy it, so it looks the same, with cheap parts. So you go shopping and say "here is the same product XYZ just with a different no name badge, must be the same quality as it looks the same". WRONG!!!! Its like the cheap "Rollex" watches from Bali, its just you know the ones in Bali are shite before you buy it.

Both 4wd Monthly and 4x4 Australia magazines ran comparo's on air compressors last year- Bushranger Max Air won both times.

I have one (mainly as a result of the comparo's) and it performs well, blows up 35's in respectible times.

When the "Aunger" died I was just south of Dalhousie springs SA, about 350km North of Oodnadatta, 450km south of Alice springs. Worst road I've ever travelled on (if you could even call it a road, mostly 4inch corragations the rest rocks the size of your fist or bigger, and it went for 270km) !!!!!!!!!! Thankfully the guys I was travelling with had the Bushranger. Out there reliablity REALLY matters

Disclaimer

Please note, cmohr has no affiliations with the manufacturers or distributers of Bushranger, he is simply waffling on about his own experiences that may or may not be of any interest to anyone....

Guys, genuinely big thanks to you all. I am leaving in a couple of days to drive from Perth to Qld to live. I'll be playing it safe and buying a Max Air tomorrow, for peace of mind.

If it breaks down in the middle of nowhere...be warned, I will find my way back to haunt you!

Thanks!

Having espoused all over this board how good my mega grunt was today it stopped working. Most of the way through pumping up an almost flat tyre it went awfully silent.....

It wasn't overheat protection kicking in coz an hour later still no joy. I found that by wiggling it the thing would stop and start but generally nothing.

It came with a warranty, I'll be cashing it in over the weekend and will keep you informed. It works really well in terms of speed, so as long as the place that sold it back it up I'll stick with it (spent enough money on cars lately!) but I just thought I'd better warn you guys.

It has done 4 tyres 20+ times in 9 months.....

Mega Grunt double pumper is CRAP.
I've had 3 in under 9 months. With the latest one, one of the pistons stopped working.
Prestige communications did replace them but the guy said that I was abusing it!!!!!! He recons you should use is for 5 mins then let it cool for 45 mins....... WTF??????
Anyway, take it or leave it but I say STAY AWAY from this pump.
