Talking Wheel Backspacing - Offset Questions....

Hi, Just wondering if anybody knew what the stock wheel backspacing is for an 82 CJ7? My current rims are 15x8's with 4" backspacing....this seems like too much...seems to me that they should have around 3-3.5" instead. Am I wrong?

Im going to go for some 33x12.5 muds soon, I want some new wheels too so I need some help deciding whats best. Ideally, I was thinking of some 15x9's with around 3"+ backspacing. With the moderate lift soon to come, a slightly wider stance would be preferable. Any suugestions!???

Cheers!!!

I'd have to get out my ruler but its definately 3-3.5 inch for factory cj Jeeps, 4 inch backspace is for Fords, you have to be pretty carefull buying wheels for CJ's, most wheels seem to be made for Ford f100's, don't accept anything over 3.5 or you will get rubbing and they just plain don't look right.
I don't think there is any such thing as 15x9 wheels, I bought wheels not long ago and got 15x8 steel Mangel wheels made in Brazil, cheap as and the only wheel I could find with the right back space

i have seen some 15x9s but they seem very rare. I run wide-trac axles so the 4" backspacing isnt too rediculous but it certainly needs improvement. I have seen the Black Mangels, had my eye on them for a while now. Do you know what backspacing are available in those?

only that the 15x8's that I bought are 3.5 inch, Mangels have a web site, I think it has all specifications on there, Also another good one to look up is americanracingwheels.com they have all specs for their wheels like back spacing etc.
