It would appear the ratio's have already changed- I drove both our cars in stock (2 door manual and 4 door auto CRD)and they both sit at around 2200rpm at 110 so 3.73 sounds right...

My 2 door averages around 9 with 5000km on the clock, I'm a pretty conservative driver this includes lots of driving in heavy traffic.

Gear ratio update

Went into my dealer today and asked if he had a recent CRD manual as I thought mine was geared too high and someone else had said that they were running much lower. We took his for a spin and sure enough it was running around 2100 at 110kph. We took mine for a spin and he was surprised to see it running at 2600. Said he will look into it and am sure he will as he a good salesguy.

According to http://scirocco.org/gears/ the CRD maunual would be running
2033 with 3.21
2346 with 3.73
2596 with 4.11(mine)
I went back to jeep.com.au and for comparison

CRD auto 4.1 ratio/0.67 5th 2071rpm
petrol manual 3.21 /0.84 6th 2033
petrol auto 4.1/0.69 4th 2133

1. Either I have a one off or there a number of others the same.
2. I think the more recent CRD manuals most likely have 3.21's
3. There is no way the advertised fuel economy is acheivable in mine anyway
4. Somewhere along the line someone at Chrsyler knew this and a switch was made in the factory and IMO has nothing to do with the 2008 model. If so-inform the customers - not so far.

Will keep you posted

Man I would be so happy to get 4.11's by mistake if I get one. The reason being is that I have every intention of running taller tyres which bring the revs straight back down again. I am even thinking of waiting for a Rubicon version in a diesel like they are now selling in Europe to save the costs of a diff ratio change.
Why don't you just fit taller tyres or are you never going to go offroad where you need any extra clearance??
