The needs and benefits of privately owning a 4x4 vehicle in Oz are obvious:
Towing, Camping, Fishing, Required for safe travel in 80% of the country,

The problem is that, over the years the following has occurred:
Early model, rough, pre '85 off roaders allowed us outdoorsie types, to enjoy what our country had to offer.
Later model offroaders gave us some comfort and allowed a lot more people to join in the enjoyment of the outdoors. Not to mention owning a vehicle more suitable for hauling the pony club horsefloat around the city.

Then it happened:
All those people who thought they might like to travel and never did, All those people who believed 4x4 veh are safer in an accident and they aren't, All those people who got jealous of next door, packing for a trip to the Cape, bought a 4x4 and then only drove it to the office and back.
Don't tell me how nice or SMART theses people are - If they were, they would own a hyundai, falcon, tarago or lexus etc - something suited to their environment and requirements.

Be in a club to own a 4x4. HAA HAA Haaa Haaa. ROFLMAO
( sorry people - nothing personal )
Currently the ' no-need ' 4x4 owners only go to the mall or the office. Bring in the club rule and they will be in your camping / fishing / trailing space. Aren't those spots getting crowded enough all ready ?????????

Used to be a firearms owner for forty years until that rule came in. Sold the lot and got out of the scene - wasn't game enough, to be in the same paddock as some of the "new" club members.

Education - not Legislation. Now, how to get commonsense, practicality and logic introduced into the curriculum ?.

Carvesdodo, You said it all I reckon.

"Now, how to get commonsense, practicality and logic introduced into the curriculum ?. "

Ha, ha, ha and I will win Lotto if that ever happened.

What is it really that these antiFWD people are on about though, is it really the extra diff ??? NO, it's the problem that they shit themselves when something is bigger than them and they can't see, a F250, a Tarago or any people mover they put them all in the FWD catergory, as a Truckie (8x4) and a FWD owner ,they all have bullbars so I must be an evil one for sure. As for being safer, that rep probably came about from back in the dim dark ages when the G60 Nissan was King, we did real 4x4, no 4x4 play grounds then, it was drive or die, thusly you could handle the things, then they went yuppie and along came the dicks. Now I drive a Grand but console myself because I'm an Old Coot now, I need my comforts.

Hey Tiny - didn't you save $40.00 per tyre ??? Thats a definite no vote reason.

HG - Took me two reads but I got it - very good

Drover - we need our own forum. Must be because I took a detour dodging a prang one day. Used Postman Pats Freeway/Murphys Law Creek Track. Either I spilt some cranky old attitude on the way past or I collected some of yours.

And a G60 - King only coz it looked like a royal landrover

as these people are all in the minority the majority can tax them

Bring it on
Do not pick on us poor "Rugby Union " supporters :
