Default Air Metering

I've been searching for a while and can't find any answers, being on dialup speed because someone's downloading movies at the moment doesn't help much either

Does the WJ (4L 6) use an air flow meter (AFM, MAF) or manifold absolute pressure sensor (MAP) or something else like the early beemers etc? Is it frequency or voltage based? Is the factory tune typically rich?

I would go have a look but my car is being borrowed until midday tomorrow

The I6 motor uses MAP sensor & while I havent tested it I dont think it runs rich as standard. It uses O2 sensor to fine tune fuel ratio.
I think the MAP sensor is voltage based ,there are kits on US Ebay which richen mixture up by fooling the eng. temp sensors to get power increase.
I wouldnt recommend them tho.

cheers for the info, but the "eBay resistor" mod is rubbish. I'll try to get the multimeter out this week to test my O2's and find out more about the MAP sensor

Yeah I agree the Ebay resistor thingy is rubbish.
The O2 sensors are the main ones for determining fuel economy.

yep, I'm going to check them for cycling ASAP, I got 530km's out of the last complete tank and the whole tank was used cruising on the highway below 100km/h
