Default Wut if i can't afford one?

Just to revive an old thread, I have the same problem.

My transfer case skid plate is loose and rattles around - I'm just waiting for it to drop out while cruising down the highway and take out the poor guy driving behind me.

I can't tighten the bolts and I am assuming all the nutserts have broken loose (which I find strange that they have all happened at once).

As much as I'd love to get one of those cross members I can't afford $300 right now. So the idea of welding in some bolts sounds good to me. Has anybody done this? Does it work? Maybe not as good as the aftermarket setup but a hell of a lot cheaper to do. I couldn't do the work myself but would get someone to weld them in for me.

Any thoughts? Is there something I'm missing here that is gonna make life more difficult? Cheers, Todd

Which nutserts ... the ones on the "chassis" body panels ... or the couple that hold the little protector plate onto the gearbox crossmember. ???

Personally, I'd get a panel beater to replace the "chassis" ones ... maybe with bigger ???

The other couple ... just get something welded up.

All three are loose for some reason. But the one on the chassis rail I think will be the biggest challenge.
