Fit the rear and drive around in 2wd. The lack of being able to wheel offroad will spur you on to finish the front off. You probably feel safer not wheeling at the moment with the weak rear axle on 33's anyway!

As for making and carrying some wheel restraining device, just carry some spare axles if you are that worried!

I say.."Put GQ Patrol diffs under it", I did! I run 37 MTR's and haven't broken a thing. Cost a lot less than axle conversion and parts are pretty cheap and easy to get hold of.

patrol diffs arnt all the great unless you get GU adn they arent that cheap.

When i had a GQ patrol I did the following damage running tyres rangeing from 35's to 37's

5 cv's destoryed
1 rear crown and pinnion destroyed
1 bent front axle housing
12 sets of front wheel bearings rooted ( when my patrol got sponsered i ended up getting these for free, but that was only the last 6 sets)

i think i'll stick with dana gear. havnt had a problem with dana gear yet.

staffy, thanx for the link, thats what i had in mind however i would make one that rotates on a bearing so the wheel can still rotate not skid.

I think i may do what go jeep says though and fit the rear diff and drive around on 2wd untill i can do the front
