Silver City Hwy Nth to Tib'burra
I am sure many of us have been to Cameron Corner via the Silver City Hwy north of Broken Hill.
Although this is an unsealed road, and the terrain is generally flat and barren, it is what you see on the side of the road that counts!
On my first trip out there, we were only about an hour north of Broken Hill when to our amazement we see the following, roadside:
1 animal carcass - roo
Eyeing this prize were:
2 pairs of adult Wedge Tailed Eagles. Count TWO Pairs. One was standing ON the carcass.
and they were having a stand-off with:
Two Foxes.
... staring one another down.
I stopped the car, but was not quick enough with my camera. The foxes bolted first [naturally], and the Eagles took off one at a time...at their leisure of course. You would have thought they were B-52s taking off from Darwin.
Had I succeeded in taking a timely photo, it would have been worth A MINT!!!!
