Hi Keith, this sounds like i might be going down a road with too many potenial problems that may stuff up the system. I'll wait to see what the Jeep dealer say. I don't think i'll get a satisfactory answer but it's worth a try.
By the way i meet a guy on Friday that has a 2007 Dodge Viper pick up he import last year. It has a huge 8.3 litre V8. It looks fantastic (not over the top) and is packed with heaps of extras and electronics. His mate who imported 2 of these into Brisbane usually gets at 2 containers a year of Dodge/Chrysler/Mopar gear. This might give me a cheap avenue to bring in some heavy or bulky Jeep stuff into the country such as a 4" lift kit, rims etc. I'll let you know if he's planning a container so we can negotiate an arrangements to import parts if your interested

Apparently the dealer fix for a "lift" and ESP is only for specific tyres, if you don't have the tyres listed in the computer it doesn't work.

Not sure about getting the door chime turned off, never succeeded with the XJ, WG or XH.

It could be a very dangerous tool and i'm sure you could do do some major upsets to your cars computer system.

Found a couple of links for ECU re-mapping and flash re-programmers.
The first says you're able to turn off the service lights not sure if this also means specific chimes.

Might be worth looking at if your brave & into the DIY. Best approach is a Jeep dealer or mechanic who can do it. Most of these products state the default settings are saved for re-loading......Watch Jeep warranty issues here??.

This is what I'd do: Undo those hex socket head screws (they're not fake as some think) pull off the dash, find the chime & wire in a on/off switch....The old KISS principle

Here's another application you may be interested in rather than buy a DTC scanner - OBD-II with iPhone
