Default Stainless Turbo Pipes for KJ CRD

I have found a cost effective source of Stainless Turbo Pipes for the KJ CRD. One of the JK CRD guys had some made up by Kaos Automotive in Rockhampton for $400 for the two pipe set complete with silicon couplers and clamps. Personally I think this is a great price compared to what it cost to bring in Samco. I have been messaging Kaos and they have agreed to do my KJ CRD. They'll need the vehicle for a couple of hours to measure it all up and then a day for the install. As my son lives in Blackwater, and I was going up that way this winter anyway, it looks like it will happen. Does anyone have any thoughts about potential problems with stainless pipes? Ok weight goes up alittle, but is there anything I should be worried about?

If you'd like to take a look at what they did for the JK CRD, here is the link to the photo page in that thread (top of page):

That's excellent!

Are there any issues with the differential movement between the intercooler and engine? I notice that my engine moves a fair bit.

Are the connecting silicone sections sufficient to absorb this movement?

Thanks for the link - i reckon it's a much better alternative to samco.

I admit the engine movement (and the stationary intercooler) did worry me. These types of pipes have been used on rice burners for years if that's any comfort. I have to assume (at this point) that the silicon couplers (one at each end of the pipes) have enough give to allow for the movement. Obviously more research is required, including feedback from the JK CRD guy who has them.

Glend what about aluminium one's as it doesn't suffer heat soak as much as
stainless does. You have some of best shop's for that in Aus on your doorstep
mate, places like Mick's metal craft have been doing that work for years.
I can also weld these thing's up, if you want some idea's we can talk more
about it at Coff's.

Make sure they purge when welding. Two extra clamps than Samco setup equals twice as many potential leak points.

Get them to run a bead around the ends of the pipe so it lessens the chance of slip.

Have you tried talking to Liverpool Exhausts? They might be priced similar/same.
